Catching Up with Time

Wow so many things have happened this week:)
First, the Prelims which i probably screwed up because of my laziness.
Then came National Day where i had the time of my life, screaming out the song lyrics and jumping around like an delirious person, not caring if anyone laughed at me because it was the last time i would probably ever get to be so crazy with my friends.
In fact the times i probably have the most fun in are most likely the times i don't care about what others think of me, when i can let my hair down and do random or impulsive things. I really had lots of fun there even though i can't hold a tune to save my life.

Promos were shocking too. I never expected to get the warrent officer rank. At first, i thought it was just a rank. Simply a piece of cloth with some additional stichings on it. I wasn't really hoping to get it because i never thought that i would be able to and also because i'm 8th in command, which is a longg way down... Plus, there were also a lot of people who probably deserve it more than i did and frankly, i wasn't that thrilled to have to march out in front of so many people, afraid that i would forget how to march, or make a fool of myself by falling flat on my feet. I simply do not like the attention thats all. Now, after receiving it, i can't stop admiring it. I am not gloating here. It's just how i feel. It's like this rank is special, somehow, i feel so glad that i have it. And all of a sudden, i feel so regretful that the only time i would be able to wear that rank is during honours day. I am not exactly a fan of the Uniform, having worn it for so many years. It is really thick and sometimes, especially on sweltering hot days, it becomes a fetid piece of clothing which repels people, not to mention the pining of badges which can get a little tiring after awhile. However, this rank has suddenly made all these cons insignificant and somehow, i can't wait to wear the uniform again. Perhaps its my inclination for new things but its just so amazing to me that i got this much coveted position. It has made all the hard work and tears devoted to Red Cross so much more worth it. I'm sure even those who were not promoted feels the same too, about Red Cross. That no matter what, they have received "rewards" in their own and they are gratified to find that all their efforts have not been in vain. Because rewards can come in many different forms, they can be tangible or intangible. Friendships and the bonds that will last you through even the most difficult times of your lives can be forged in Red Cross. The memories alone are unforgettable, reminders that one is never alone whether in doing punishments or saying the tick tock cheer in unison. Red Cross has been an integral part of my life that i will never forget for it has taught me so much and given me the friends i know i cannot live without.

Finally, today. POC dinner. For Us. It seems so surreal but its final, i guess. we have progressed from the "babies" of Red Cross, to Sectwos who had to help the extremely small secthree level, to the responsible Secthrees, to the nurturing NCOs, and finally, now we are labelled under a group known as the Ex-NCOs. It will take some time to get us to that term, to become like our predecessors, a level leaving the Red Cross family forever. I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner this year although the service was rather poor and i got cranky and tired after waiting too long, remedied by a quick "toilet" trip outside. The Ice Cream was delicious though and i really enjoyed socialising. Wonder where come of the pictures went though. Today i took more pictures than i'd ever dream i would take. Perhaps this is what it feels like, to want to hold on to the memories of the people you have grown so close to. Trying to freeze time in a snapshot even though you know that the feelings felt then cannot be replicated by a single shot. I really miss all of them, even though i have sort of learnt the art of hiding, numbing all my feelings to make me feel nothing at all, so that i would not have to cry again. Sigh, time really passes so quickly.

I guess after this, its time to move on, move to another phrase of our lives, i should really start studying hard now. Gotta go sleep now. Its 1.15AM. Plus i have to ignore the weird feeling in my stomach. Oh great, i think i have gastric
:(
